Foxfire (1996) dir. Annette Haywood-Carter

I watched this movie last night as a Amazon Prime recommendation, I didn't get to take as many screenshots since I ordered pizza at 11 PM on a Tuesday like a maniac and had greasy fingers throughout. This movie started off strong and Angelina and all the female characters being so cool was super intriguing. There were some intense moments where I actually screamed at my laptop (standing on a bridge and I hate heights, etc.) but overall sadly the last 2/3 of the movie fell a little flat and it took a weird turn where I see this a lot in angry films where it usually involves women taking a man hostage for revenge but didn't quite grab me in the way I think it was supposed. I feel kind of bad writing this but I guess this "blog" or blog is documentation for things I watch and my overall thoughts.  I was impressed  by the budget of the movie and hope one day I too can set off sprinklers in an entire high school.

TWINART's Compilation Consumer's Choice (1984)

I have been very good at watching films, sometimes even two a day this past week but very bad about writing about them! Let's see how this goes. This next film was sent to me by my long time Texas friend Chad/one of the most influential people of my life, it's weird and wonderful in all its own ways much like Chad. This compilation is from NY twin film sisters Ellen and Lynda Kahn. These seem to be promo videos for their film studio all ending with a P.O.Box address on how to purchase some of their work. They are now based in LA and continue to make wacky things. These videos make me wish so badly I had my own studio to be able to film things like this like toothbrushing NY statues and baby toy hand cereal. Hope you enjoy!

JAWLINE (2019) dir. Liza Mandelup

I wanted the first film on my BLOG to be extra special so I've chosen my friend Liza's debut feature film, Jawline. I can write about this film more than others since I saw it theaters with a q and a plus have known Liza's for years. She spent 4 years on this film and it wasn't until I saw it at the screening I realized I hadn't seen her out in public in maybe 5 years. This idea originated from her short film Fangirl which interviews the female side of fans who follow social media boys which would eventually lead to Jawline. Jawline is a hilarious dark documentary following the story of teen Austyn from TN who has a following doing live-broadcasting - which is basically live streaming and having primarily a fan base of teen girls who get a chance to talk to a cute boy behind a screen and either worship him like a religious God or look up to him like a big brother. The majority of these girls get bullied at school and spend their money at meet and greets for a chance to take pics and see these boys irl. My description only scratches the surfaces but this is a high rec from me and have seen it 3 times. It is available on hulu!!!

All of Liza's short docs are incredible and I highly rec watching them because she is a creative genius.

Welcome Back

Hello everyone who may have come across this page. I am revamping a movie blog I had originally started in high school called "Film a Day" where I spent an entire summer watching - a film a day. This was around the height of Netflix DVD delivery so I was a thrilled 17 year old getting those little worn out DVD slips in the mail. For the days that overlapped i'd go to Blockbuster and rent a movie - ANY movie in order to keep up my daily quota. I checked out the entire horror movie of Blockbuster. That is a true story.

Anyways so here we go at an attempt to bring this back - 10 years later and as a more adult version of myself and taste, although the movies I was watching back then were even more artsy and experimental than what I watch now so it'll also be a way for me to get back in touch with that.

There will be all sorts of things i'll be watching. New movies, old movies, repeats, some of the high school movies I reviewed (maybe i'll add the link to that site someday) shorts, music video selections - who knows. I'll watch whatever I want!

Here we go.
